Other 3D Ford models include F-150 Raptor, Shelby GT350R, Focus ST, and Fiesta ST.

Additional Ford vehicles are forthcoming.

The Ford 3D Store lets customers select a Ford vehicle of their liking as a plastic model or printable file. Models are 1/32nd in scale, but purchasing a digital image allows users to have their Ford replica 3D-printed to the scale and of the material they choose.

Professional 3D printers can create the Ford model in all sorts of materials, from soft plastics and sandstone to various metals.

It’s a fun way to display your love for cars to your friends, family and co-workers. A model in the office or on the coffee table will make a nice conversation piece.Ford enters 3D

My girlfriend Danielle and I had our own conversation, debating on which one we want for our future house.

When I asked what she would like, she replied “is that even a question, Carl?“.

I was pulling for the Raptor but her sentiments, with regard to the powerful F-150, were as exciting as watching linoleum curl.

Her text simply read “no.”

When I suggested the GT, it was “yes, yes, yes, please, please, please!”Ford enters 3D

So the Ford GT is on the way to our house . . . that we have yet to pick, for kids we have yet to have but at least we will have the model to display. We both agreed our preparation for happily ever after is going fantastic and we are ahead of the curve when it comes to settling down.

The 3D digital file library from Ford continues to grow and now features over 1,000 images for customers. 3D printing is used in the development of Ford automobiles and is now becoming a novelty among car enthusiasts.

Juniper research indicates desktop 3D printer sales will exceed 1 million by 2018, up from 44,000 in 2014. Currently, Ford is the only automaker to offer this to their customers and it remains to be seen if other manufactures will present something similar.

Ford named TurboSquid as their official licensing partner for the 3D models.
